Why should you determine your interests on what kids your age like? Simply, you shouldn't.
From experience, I can say that I have no clue what I like, and I blame myself for that. For years I tried to tell myself that what these other girls liked is what I should like. And simply I did that to fit in. But I'm now 13, about to go into 8th grade, and I'm still caught on the fact that I'm not me. See I would love to play guitar or write my own music. Maybe even officially learn to skateboard and do tricks. But I feel as if I'm not going to fit in. But coming to the realization, that I don't need to. I can be the person I want to be and do the things I want to and I should not care about what people think about it. Once I graduate I think I am going to turn into someone different, and finally, achieve and/or learn what I want to do. But honestly, why don't I start now. I have the time and come graduation I will already achieve what I wanted to. And I will be someone that I know I truly am.
Even though we think that we need to fit in and like what other people like around us. We simply shouldn't. And If you are worried that there aren't going to be people who share the same interests as you, I promise you there are. And be selfish. Sometimes doing what you want and liking what you want to like is needed. Because we will truly lose ourselves. And I think that I'm going through a period where I officially want to refind myself and figure out who I truly am without other people determining that for me.
THINGS TAKEN FROM THIS:
Don't base yourself on other people you are around, and find what you like, on your own. Maybe you will find something out about yourself that you never knew you would.
As always, stay true, stay you, and have a beautiful day :)
